Stitching the ‘unconventional canvas’ for interior textiles:

My project is the application of contemporary embroidery onto industrial materials, as a canvas. I researched how two different materials, yarn and canvas, could be used in a new way as an interior textile and want to find out how I can link stitch skills and industrial materials together.

I have developed this idea by applying specific materials, which is wood and skills related to embroidery. Embroidery is an old technique, which is enjoyed by many cultures. The benefits of which are felt throughout the world in different ways. By approaching it as contemporary embroidery, the effect that embroidery and printing have, combined, contributes to making texture in a solid material. Products are to use contemporary embroidery to create a range of products for interiors and make it more versatile.
