Follow the footprints.
Often, the value of clothing is inherently tied to the stories which surround them. We tend to hold on to things that have a clear history, either personal or social, such as a gift from a friend, or a valuable vintage piece. To permanently endow clothing with stories from its journey gives it something special; a life of its own. That story may save it from being too easily cast aside somewhere down the line. What are we truly throwing away, what stories are lost forever? To better respect and care for our clothing is something we all should consider, after all, they may have something yet to tell us.
The Footprint Project is a textile platform that utilizes silkscreen and tailoring in combination with ‘social clothing’ technologies. The project is realized through internet ready garments and accessories and is recognized by screen printed imagery reflective of our everyday surroundings. These garments await user participation and storytelling in an informative and interactive website provided to connect us with the journey of our clothing. A code on each piece allows users access to an online platform where they may write, comment and create. Anywhere the clothes may go, we may also follow.
Everything has a story to tell.
Step towards an environmentally sustainable relationship with what we wear.
